Overview:
Global Water was recently commissioned by Fulton Hogan Construction to install two wastewater pump stations at two major development sites: Buckland Park and Virginia, located approximately 30km north of the Adelaide CBD.
Challenges:
Due to the very flat nature of the development, and the distance from Bolivar WWTP, conventional gravity sewers are unable to be used to connect residential housing to the wastewater network. Therefore, sewage was unable to flow under gravity, which requires some form of system to convey this to the treatment plant. Global Water was engaged to find a suitable solution that would solve this problem.
Solution:
Our range of Envirolift pump stations were designed in conjunction with the engineer, SA Water and the main contractor, Fulton Hogan Construction, to connect the residential houses to the SA Water Wastewater network to provide sewage service. Global Water installed two Envirolift concrete pump stations - 1 at each development site. These consisted of an engineered purpose-made concrete pumping station made from 50mPa concrete and using calcareous aggregate, 3200mm in diameter with the deepest unit being over 7m deep. These have 2 wastewater pumps each and pump into stainless steel pipework which connects to a rising main that takes the sewage to Bolivar WWTP.
Result:
The Envirolift scope was collated by Global Water and Fulton Hogan Construction to meet site conditions. The Envirolift was the first choice due to having reduced installation costs, the smallest footprint along with WASS regulatory approvals, and compact shape. Global Water had to manufacturer, install and commission these pumping stations and provide documentation such as ITP’s and QA certificates as per the customers requirements.
